Crazy Weather

January 7th, 2008 · No Comments

It’s supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow. That’s just crazy weather for Virginia in January. Last week I was holding a hair dryer on the water pipes to thaw them out. Yes, I know there are better ways to thaw out pipes but you have to use what you have at hand.

I have been making a list of what I want to get done today while it’s warm. The dogs have had a field day with their toys and pillows and I have white fluffy stuff all over the yard. I like it better than snow but not much better. So I guess I am going to go rake it all up. I picked up two trash bags of it yesterday. Sigh….

I left Kaylee’s invisible fence collar off yesterday and she had a 15 minute run in the chicken pen. She is getting really smart about the collar. She seems to know the difference between her regular collar and the invisible fence collar so I guess the days of alternating are gone.

If you haven’t tried the PetSafe Wireless Invisible fence, I recommend it highly. It’s just a unit that you plug into the wall. You put the collar on the dog and that’s pretty much it. If the dog goes out of radio range, they hear a beep and then get a shock. It took mine about 2 days to figure out that they needed to stay within the boundaries of the beep.

The downside? Well, if you have an alarm on your cell phone or watch, it can send your dog scurrying back home in a hurry.

Leo at ZenHabits has a post today called The Four Laws of Simplicity, and How to Apply Them I will let you read the post but I think I am going to start simplifying today. And after I get the dog’s polysnow picked up, I am going to work on the shed. Hmmm, maybe I will even take pictures.
