As I mentioned, we have horses, dogs, goats and chickens here on the farm. For the most part, everyone gets along pretty well together. Once in awhile though, the chickens will wander into dog territory and Kalee the wonder poodle chases them back gleefully. I can always tell when she has been terrorizing them as I will notice one or two with their head under a bush. Apparently they think that if they hide their head, the rest of them must be invisible. Did I mention that chickens aren’t the smartest bird in the bush? Of course, it seems to work if only because Kalee will only chase them if they run.
I do have a few other quirky animals. I have one surviving guinea hen who thinks she is a chicken. She hangs out with the chickens, eats chicken food and I highly suspect that the tiny egg that I found in the nest box was hers. I am pretty sure that she has NOT been hanging out with the roosters though.
